Matthew Mitchell, who's currently homeless, says he's lived in Denver for 18 years. He's says he's haunted by a memory from his time serving in Desert Storm — the smell of burning human bodies. He hangs out at the Denver Central Library: sometimes to watch videos on a computer, other times to score drugs — though he says those don't help him shake his thoughts of Iraq. The only reason he doesn't kill himself, he said, is because he's scared he'll be stuck with his memories forever.
