Boulder Philharmonic plays Strauss, Stravinsky, Sibelius

Photo: Michael ButtermanThe Boulder Philharmonic this Saturday performs a concert titled “Wings and Spirits,” with music by Richard Strauss, Igor Stravinsky and Jean Sibelius.

The program starts at 7:30 p.m. at Macky Auditorium in Boulder:

  • Griffes: "The White Peacock"
  • Udow: "Apparition"
  • Stravinsky: Suite from "The Firebird" (1919)
  • Sibelius: "The Swan of Tuonela"
  • Strauss: "Four Last Songs"

Music Director Michael Butterman will conduct and soprano Twyla Robinson will be the soloist on “Four Last Songs.” The Boulder Philharmonic is playing the Strauss piece to honor the composer’s 150th birthday.
