This Saturday, the CPR SummerFest Concert Series continues with CPR Classical’s first ever live broadcast of the Philadelphia Orchestra, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin, on the heels of his first season as the orchestra's new music director. This Bravo! Vail premiere of Verdi's Requiem celebrates the 200th birth anniversary of the great Italian opera composer. The performance features Angela Meade (soprano), Karen Cargill (mezzo-soprano), John Mac Master (tenor), John Relyea (bass-baritone) and the Colorado Symphony Orchestra Chorus, under the direction of Duain Wolfe.

Following the Philadelphia Orchestra’s performance of Verdi’s Requiem last fall at Carnegie Hall, critic James Oestreich wrote in The New York Times that Nézet-Séguin “embraced Verdi’s theatricality fully, from the recurring Dies Irae thunder, powerfully hurled, to the bass’s murmur, ‘mors stupebit’ (‘death shall stand amazed’)."

Tune-in Saturday afternoon as CPR Classical will feature exclusive artist interviews leading up to the live broadcast beginning at 6 p.m. with host Charley Samson.
