Provisional Ballots

The extra processing required for provisional votes can be costly for a county the size of Denver, but the new law is intended to greatly decrease how many of those ballots are cast.  In the past a mail-in voter who lost or mismarked their ballot had to vote provisionally.  Under the new law, they'll be able to cast a regular ballot at a vote center.  Denver officials estimate they would have saved around $30,000 if the law had been in place for last year's presidential election.
