Not far from the new home construction taking place all around Strasburg, grain elevators and an old railroad car sit near the train tracks and Interstate 70. The Comanche Crossing Historical Society in Strasburg claims that a spot near town marks the point at which the final spike was driven in the first railroad to link the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of the United States. The town takes its name from John Strasburg, a railroad foreman who helped lay the tracks.
