The Colorado Public Radio News Fellowship will develop a new generation of talented, diverse journalists for the public radio system.
The CPR News Fellow will be trained in every aspect of public radio journalism - developing story ideas, reporting, writing, producing and editing, for both radio, and the website and social media. The fellow will spend time in different areas of the newsroom - newscast/daily reporting, Colorado Matters, beat reporting and digital/social media.
The News Fellow will learn to define, pitch and produce a public radio story; record in a variety of settings; do basic photography, prepare thorough and balanced reports; identify guests for interview topics; provide thorough news research; meet news deadlines; prepare material for our digital and social media platforms; and do some on-air reporting. The News Fellow may also be assisted in connecting to other opportunities in public radio after the fellowship period, whether at CPR News or other stations in the system.

Education & Experience Requirements
The successful candidate is a college graduate or post-graduate who has journalism experience, including the ability to identify good stories and report thoroughly and accurately.
Colorado residents and/or graduates of a Colorado college or university are preferred, but that is not required.
Provide a cover letter describing why you want to learn about public radio journalism and why your journalism background suits you for the position. Please also provide a resume, three best reported pieces (excluding personal essays or opinion pieces), and three professional or academic references. The salary for the one-year Fellowship is $30,000 with full benefits.
