Benefit Staged Reading for the Old Colorado City Historical Society
When
Event Description
This holiday season, the Funky Little Theatre Company will present a benefit staged reading for the Old Colorado Historical Society.
The Christmas Crickets of Colorado City, or “A Month of Sundays,” is adapted from The Cricket on the Hearth, a Christmas novella by Charles Dickens. When this story first appeared on the London stage, it was more popular than staged versions of A Christmas Carol.
Obviously, this cricket hails from Colorado City (before it became known as Old Colorado City). History buffs might enjoy the many local references, including a legendary team of reindeer that once alighted Colorado Avenue. Everyone will enjoy the rediscovery of a Dickensian yuletide tale told with optimism, generosity, humor, and ever-enduring love.
