Grammy-winning cellist Zuill Bailey returns to Boulder for the first of two programs with the Phil. Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen Taaffe Zwilich’s new concerto, written for Zuill, is full of playful jazz and pop influences. We’re pleased to present the premiere of a chamber-sized revision of the concerto, mirroring the instrumentation of one of the great chamber works in the repertoire, Schubert’s Trout Quintet.
Zuill Bailey, cello
Michael Butterman, piano
Jennifer Hayghe, piano
RACHMANINOFF Vocalise, for cello and piano
ZWILICH Cello Concerto (chamber version)
SCHUBERT Piano Quintet in A Major, D. 667, “Trout”
A pre-concert discussion will be held via Zoom at 7 PM. Program will be available for on-demand viewing through February 6.
