Board Op / Producer, CPR News

The Board Op / Producer is responsible for providing technical support for news hosts during Morning Edition and All Things Considered and ensures that all audio meets Colorado Public Radio standards and deadlines. The Board Op / Producer also supports the Colorado Matters staff by performing daily Colorado Matters tasks (ie: board op, technical director, assembly) as needed. Additionally, the Board Op / Producer supports CPR News with onsite recordings and broadcasts, feature mixing, sound design and training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs the daily tasks required to support news hosts:
    • Board Operation
    • Staging Guests
    • Retrieving and editing NPR content
    • Works closely with editors to facilitate the airing of news features and other original content
  • Performs the daily tasks associated with Colorado Matters daily production:
    • Board Operation
    • Technical Director
    • Assembly
    • Web Audio
    • News Magazine Edits
    • Field Recording
    • Post-Production (music and feature mixing)
  • Provides support for CPR News by performing the following tasks:
    • Field Recording
    • Post-Production (music and feature mixing)
    • Sound Design
    • Training

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • The position requires advanced knowledge of audio production and all related hardware and software.
  • The position requires good judgement, strong problem solving skills, creativity and adaptability.
  • This position requires a person that is highly organized, with strengths in time management and communication.
  • This position involves non-standard hours as needed, including evenings and weekends. Occasional travel is also required.
