14 Arrested After Large Pot Grow Found On Western Slope

Authorities have arrested 14 people after the discovery of a large illegal marijuana grow in western Colorado.

The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reports the group is accused of growing about 3,000 marijuana plants on about 30 to 40 acres between Rifle and Silt. Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario says some of those who were arrested Monday are believed to be Chinese nationals who are in the country illegally.

Sheriff's deputies stopped a moving truck leaving the property and found that it was packed with marijuana plants. They discovered thousands more plants when they raided the property.

Investigators say 12 men and two women were arrested, and another half a dozen people fled the scene on foot and have not been caught.
