Aspen-Area Residents Voice Concerns Over Potential Brewery

About 30 Aspen-area homeowners are pushing back against a proposal to put a brewery in a residential zone.

The Aspen Times reports the community effort is being coordinated by Bill Budinger, who says people are against the noise, light and smell that a brewery would bring to the neighborhood.

City officials are looking at rezoning the old Aspen Power Plant from residential to public use. It would house an Aspen Brewing Co., a TV station and workspace.

Power Plant officials could not be reached for comment. City Attorney Jim True says Aspen officials are aware of the homeowners' opposition, and have not decided if the facility will be rezoned.
