Colorado casinos had their biggest August since opening in the 1990s.
The state's gaming institutions are now regularly setting monthly records. After payouts, they made $72 million from gamblers in August. Casinos haven’t seen a year like this in nearly a decade.
Table games like craps and poker continue to lead the increase – in fact, August was the best month ever for table games, with nearly $9 million in reported proceeds.
The record figures mean more tax revenue for the state. Casinos paid more than $110 million in taxes in the last fiscal year. That is partly distributed to a mix of tourism and historic preservation projects.
