CU Boulder Prof Named Colorado State Historian

Gov. John Hickenlooper has named University of Colorado Boulder professor Patty Limerick has Colorado's state historian. The appointment is meant to strengthen ties between History Colorado and the university.

CU President Bruce Benson praised Limerick as an exceptional historian, and Limerick was recently confirmed by the U.S. Senate for membership on the National Council for the Humanities.

Limerick will continue in her role as the faculty director of the Center of the American West, a forum on public issues. Jason Hanson, a member of the center’s research team, will serve as Deputy State Historian.

Limerick and her team will consult on History Colorado exhibits, present public events and develop a university course to give students practical training in exhibit development.
