More than a half-million square feet of office space in downtown Denver has been put up for sublease by energy firms. But a fifth of that has already been filled says a report from the national real estate firm Jones Lang LaSalle. And many companies snatching up the office space are other energy firms.

Denver has several things going for it in this time of low oil prices. There’s a concentration of highly educated workers here and the city is an attractive destination.

And, according to the report, Colorado’s oil fields are still busy because they are relatively cheap to drill and they are productive.
