Colorado Springs and other parts of southeastern Colorado could be in for more severe thunderstorms Friday.
Heavy rain and hail as big as golf balls hit parts of the Springs area Thursday night. Firefighters warned people to stay inside because of flooding and hail that piled up like snow in some areas.
They also put out a house fire that was started by a lightning strike.
Police spokesman Howard Black said 27 police cruisers were so damaged from the storm that they were knocked out of service.
In Denver today? Cloudy and just a bit cooler: mid-80s this afternoon, also with that chance for thunderstorms, hail and strong winds. The cooler temperatures won’t last though, as they climb back near 90 around Denver Saturday and mid-90s by Sunday.
The hot weather is hanging in the western part of the state too, with highs near 100 again for Grand Junction.
There will be 70s in the mountains with sunny skies through the weekend.
