Skiers hoping to take a resurrected Ski Train from Denver to Winter Park Resort will likely have to wait until next year.

The resort says negotiations with Amtrak, Union Pacific and the Federal Railroad Administration are still underway. But ski season is in full swing and time is running out.

“I think it’d be difficult to say that we’ll have service in 2016," resort spokesman Steve Hurlbert said Wednesday. "But never say never. And all of us are still working hard and all of us still want to see it succeed.”

The players have been negotiating the train's potential return for months. Regular service ran from 1940 to 2009, though a handful of one-off runs last year sold out quickly.

"Hopefully we'll have some good news soon," Hurlbert said.
