Richard Kirk behind bars in October 2018.

The marijuana edible made him do it.

That's the claim Denver man Richard Kirk has made since he was accused of killing his wife, Kris, four years ago.

Kirk is now serving 30 years behind bars. For the first time in an exclusive interview with Rocky Mountain PBS, he's talking about the crime, which raised serious safety questions about edible marijuana soon after recreational use was legalized in Colorado.

Rocky Mountain PBS investigative correspondent Lori Jane Gliha looked into Kirk's case and its implications for a new podcast along with reporter Leigh Paterson. Gliha talked to Colorado Matters about the project.
