Bill Would Allow Pharmacists To Tell Customers Drugs Cost Less With Cash

Lawmakers in the Colorado House have passed a bill that would let pharmacists tell customers their prescriptions can cost less if they pay in cash instead of through their insurance plan.

Republican Rep. Jim Wilson, of Salida, a co-sponsor of the bill, says other states are also looking to reverse this "gag order."

“It is something that I really didn't know was going on until I visited with my pharmacist to the north there in Buena Vista, and then I got to looking into it," he said. "And I believe if I remember correctly nine states have already done it and several are in the process of doing it as well."

The bill passed the House 57 to 5, and now heads to the state Senate.
