The Bureau of Land Management lifted fire restrictions Tuesday on BLM-managed public lands across Colorado in Chaffee, Custer, El Paso, Fremont, Huerfano, Lake, Las Animas, Park, Pueblo and Teller counties.

Current and oncoming weather conditions spurred the decision. Long-awaited monsoons storms dumped rain and heightened humidity in the area. Wildland fire managers believe in fire danger is on a downward trend after a strong early wildfire season.

Campfires are allowed again in designated fire grates. The BLM encourages campers to clear burnable material within three feet of their campfires, to keep fires small and extinguish them completely and to never leave a campfire unattended. But no fireworks: they are always illegal on federal lands.

Rocky Mountain National Park had lifted their fire restrictions on July 20.
