Colorado jobless rate falls to 4 percent in December

Colorado's unemployment rate fell slightly in December to 4 percent, the lowest its been since October 2007.

Employers added 4,700 jobs last month, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment reported Tuesday. Private sector payroll jobs jumped by 5,500 while public sector jobs fell by 800.

A news release from the CDLE has more details about the overall job market in 2014:

Over the year, nonfarm payroll jobs increased 62,300. Private sector payroll jobs increased 55,800 and government increased 6,500. The largest private sector job gains were in leisure and hospitality, education and health services, and construction. Information and other services declined over the year.

The national unemployment rate was 5.6 percent in December.
