Crested Butte Marshal: Don’t come unless you live here

But the street party that Bud Light is bringing to town is a “locals only” event.

With few exceptions, only Gunnison County residents 21 and older will be allowed into the area that the town is letting Anheuser Busch fence off for its marketing campaign.

Crested Butte officials are concerned that a lot of out-of-towners will try to crash the party.

Town Marshal Tom Martin says he will keep that from happening.

"We pride ourselves on welcoming our visitors but we’ll have to turn you away if you come that weekend," he said.

Bud Light is also bringing in a thousand contest winners from all over the country to appear at the event, but Marshal Martin wants to discourage others from making the trip to Crested Butte.

"They’ll just be turned away, they’ll really just be wasting their time," Martin said. "The venue’s all fenced, and they won’t get in."

Anheuser Busch paid Crested Butte $500,000 for the right to fence off three blocks of town and paint the streets Bud Light blue.
