Denver to Durango…The Hard Way

Listen Now

Later this week, a smelly, probably hungry, and worn out mountain biker will pedal into Durango. He-- or she-- will have ridden nearly 500 miles of dirt track through the back-country since leaving Denver Monday morning. The Colorado Trail Race is really an informal affair. Competitors have no logistical support and there’s no prize money. Stefan Griebel, of Boulder, organized the first race a few years ago. It follows, as its name implies, The Colorado Trail. It's a winding route that’s popular with hikers.
