More fire bans go into effect Thursday across the state. However, the ozone alert for the Front Range that had been in effect for days was lifted Wednesday afternoon.
The new fire bans include all outdoor fires, fireworks, and smoking near flammable material for Jefferson County. Pike National Forest put its own restrictions in place Wednesday, banning all fires outside of developed campgrounds and picnic sites.
Several wildfires continue to burn around the West including states Nevada, New Mexico, Montana and Wyoming. Here are the fires, and links to updates, in Colorado.
- 412 Fire, 7 miles south of Rico
- East Rim Fire, 10 miles northeast of Dove Creek
- Gutzler Fire, 13 miles southwest of Kremmling
- Peak 2 Fire, 2 miles south of Frisco
- Peekaboo Fire, 44 miles northwest of Maybell
- Mill Creek Fire, 15 miles northeast of Hayden
- Wilson Fire, 9 miles north of Meeker

Stage I fire restrictions are still in effect for all portions of the Arapaho and Roosevelt national forests that lie in Boulder, Gilpin, Jefferson, Park, Clear Creek and Canyon Lakes counties. Restrictions are also in place in Mesa Verde.

Fines for violating fire restrictions start at $300 and go up from there. They can also lead to a mandatory court appearance.
