How to Leave Prison Behind

Listen Now

Hassan Latif likes to say he went into prison when Ronald Reagan was president and was released when George W. Bush was in his second term. Latif spent 18 years in prison in Colorado for armed robbery, and unlike many inmates who are released, he’s stayed out. More than half of state’s prisoners end up back behind bars within just a few years of their release. Latif is trying to change that. He's also the author of the recent book "Never Going Back,” and he counsels ex-convicts about how to stay out of the system. He speaks with CPR’s Elaine Grant.
