People with dementia can forget even the most critical parts and people in their lives.

In the past, that's meant concerns about people with dementia still owning cars and driving. Increasingly, that concern also applies to those still owning guns.

NPR's Melissa Block reported extensively on dementia and guns for a recent series. One of the couples she talked to who were struggling with the issue lives in Aurora. Block talked to Colorado Matters about the risk factors of people with dementia owning guns, and what family members can do before tragedy occurs.
