Ski resorts along Interstate 70 have started making snow ahead of this year’s winter sports season.
Copper Mountain, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin have begun coating the slopes.
Loveland Ski Area began snowmaking 1 a.m. Monday. The resort is about a week behind schedule for this time of year, but spokesperson John Sellers says the weather window for the next few days looks good. Sellers expect the resort will be able to create a lot of snow.
“We’re off to a great start,” Sellers said. “The natural snow definitely helps and ski season will be here soon.”
Sellars says no opening date has been set yet for Loveland. The ski resort is shooting for mid to late October.
