Ice skating was Yvonne Dowlen's life.

She performed with the Ice Capades in the 1930s and taught figure skating in Denver for years. Dowlen refused to retire. At the age of 90, she still skated five times a week.

Dowlen passed away last May where she felt most at home: on the ice.

A new short documentary from Boulder production company Balcony Nine Media is a tribute to Dowlen. It's called "Edges," and screens in Longmont and Boulder Sunday as part of the Boulder International Film Festival.

Filmmaker Katie Stjernholm and Yvonne's son, Bret Dowlen of Lakewood, spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel.
