Virtual band managers. Software that lets you use your cell phone to scan bar codes. Just a couple of ideas that started through a Boulder based program called TechStars. Entrepreneurs spend three months in Boulder perfecting their idea and later pitching it to potential investors. Eleven new companies recently went through the program. One of those startups is Adam Wilson’s company, GearBox. The company's product looks like a regular rubber ball that rolls on the floor except you control it with a smartphone.
Wilson recently asked possible investors for half a million dollars to get this toy into the marketplace. If he gets that money, everyone involved could make some serious cash. The founders of TechStars get a six-percent cut of each new company. We talk with TechStars co-founder Brad Feld.
