Using Technology To Curb Colorado’s Distracted Drivers

The state's transportation director says the high number is due to an "epidemic of distracted driving." Automakers and entrepreneurs are creating unique ways to prevent the practice. Shad Balch is with General Motors. The automaker has created a "Teen Driver" system that helps parents teach their children about distracted driving.

The technology is on display at the Denver Auto Show this weekend.

Scott Tibbitts is CEO of Katasi, based in Boulder. He's created a module that works with mobile phone companies to prevent texting while driving.
