Wallace Stegner was more than a Pulitzer Prize-winning author of books such as "Angle of Repose," "The Spectator Bird," and "Crossing To Safety." He was a teacher and mentor to many writers, including Ken Kesey, Edward Abbey, and former U-S Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. Stegner was also famous for his passionate views about treating the natural world with respect and reverence, though he considered himself a "reluctant conservationist." John Howe, a documentary filmmaker at KUED Public Television in Salt Lake City, Utah, has produced a film to celebrate Stegner's life and work. It airs Thursday, May 13, at 9pm on Rocky Mountain PBS. John Howe spoke with Colorado Public Radio's Dan Drayer.
