BadBadNotGood, ‘Time Moves Slow’

Since forming in 2010, Toronto band BadBadNotGood has released instrumental jazz takes on the music of James Blake, My Bloody Valentine and Kanye West. The four-piece has also collaborated with a number of contemporary rappers like Earl Sweatshirt, Danny Brown and Ghostface Killah, with whom they released the "Sour Soul" album last year.

It's plain to hear why so many fellow musicians are eager to work with the band: They excel at rhythmic jams that blur the lines between jazz, rock and hip-hop genres.

BadBadNotGood's latest album "IV" is out Friday. The single "Time Moves Slow" is a midtempo torch song featuring the poignant and raspy vocals of Future Islands frontman Sam Herring.

BadBadNotGood performs at the Vertex Music Festival in Buena Vista on Aug. 5.
