It’s been a great hockey season for Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche. The center was named best player in the NHL for November of last year.
We spoke with MacKinnon during an Avalanche practice about the music he listens to when he gets ready to hit the ice.
"I listen to a lot of hip-hop," he told Alicia Bruce Trujillo. "That’s about it. I like 21 Savage, G Herbo."
MacKinnon says he plays hip-hop during training, warm-ups and more.
"Eminem got me into hip-hop," he says. "As a kid I listened to Eminem. I like the beats. I listen to Kendrick Lamar, all those guys."
Since he uses hip-hop during game prep, he wants to hear more of it during games -- especially when he's playing well. He says if he could have any song play each time he scores a goal, it would be "Transportin'" by Florida rapper Kodak Black.
Even though he spends a lot of time at the Pepsi Center, he’s missed a few of the bigger hip-hop shows there this past year, including Jay Z and Gucci Mane.
But as long as MacKinnon keeps playing well at the Pepsi Center, he should keep Avs fans happy.
