Parallax Performing Arts visits OpenAir on eve of new production

This weekend, Denver's own Parallax Performing Arts presents "A Scrooge Story", a modern adaptation of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" that features original choreography set to music by Colorado artists. Director Maggie Smith and assistant director Jen GaNun stopped by OpenAir's Mile High Noon to chat with Corey Jones about the production, which runs at the Cleo Parker Robinson Theater at 7 pm on Friday, November 30th and Saturday, December 1st, along with a matinee at 2 pm on Sunday, December 2nd.

Parallax started in January 2012, and "A Scrooge Story" marks the group's second production. "We wanted to create a dance company that could bring in not only local dance artists but local music artists (too)," Smith says in the interview, which you can access below. "We have so many in this great Denver community." The latest performance features music by Colorado acts Churchill, Devotchka, Munly & the Lee Lewis Harlots, Bad Luck City, Fairchildren, and Kal Cahoone.
