Daft Punk documentary film in the works
French electro-dance duo Daft Punk, whose song "Get Lucky" from 2013's "Random Access Memories" album took home "Record of the Year" at this year's Grammys, will be the subject of a new documentary film produced by BBC Worldwide France. The film is set to be an hour in length and will debut in 2015. According to executive producer Patrice Gellé, this will be the first independent film documenting the band. [via Variety]
Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O announces debut solo album
Academy Award-nominated Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has announced the details of her debut solo album, "Crush Songs." It is set for release on Sept. 9 via Strokes singer Julian Casablanca's label Cult, and according to a handwritten note from the singer, the songs were written and recorded when she was 27 (approximately eight years ago). Filter magazine to cease publication
Filter, the music magazine that launched in 2002 as a quarterly collection of music interviews, reviews, and covers featuring the likes of Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Bjork, and most recently, Jack White, has announced it will cease publication this summer. Co-founders Alan Sartirana and Alan Miller have each announced plans for new music publications in Filter's wake: Anthemic Magazine and Culture Collide, respectively. [via Consequence of Sound]
