Professional Background:
Avery joined Colorado Public Radio in 2019 as a host and producer for “Colorado Matters.” Her career in public media began as an intern at KWBU and a news assistant for NPR’s “Here & Now” in 2016.
From there, Avery became the news director at KDLG, an NPR-member station in Dillingham, AK. In that role, she led the newsroom’s production of breaking news and in-depth coverage of life in Bristol Bay. Her responsibilities also included directing and hosting the popular Bristol Bay Fisheries Report, special daily coverage of the world’s largest commercial sockeye salmon run.
