There’s a campaign under way in Hastings to stop the authorities from allocating the lion’s share of fish quotas to big boats, in an effort to protect smaller, family-run operations. Many fear the local fleet is dying out, as fishing families face intense economic pressures — and many sons no longer can afford to follow in their father’s footsteps.
