Denver home prices hit yet another record

Chart: Case-Shiller Denver home price index

Denver home prices jumped 10 percent in March compared to the same month a year earlier. In fact, Denver had the fastest-growing prices of any other major city except San Francisco.

Denver and Dallas are the only two cities tracked by the Case Shiller index where home prices have exceeded their pre-recession levels, though Boston and Charlotte are getting close.

Since 2000, Denver home values have jumped a whopping 65 percent. Prices are being driven by a potent combination of factors: the population is booming and there’s a severely limited supply of homes.
