Denver singer-songwriter Anthony Ruptak was about to finish his debut album when someone broke into his home and stole everything.

His instruments, his songbooks and the money he'd saved to make the record, all gone.

That could've ended the project. But support from the Denver music community got him back on his feet. He finished the album, "A Place That Never Changes," and will release it Dec. 8, the same day he performs at Denver's Hi-Dive.

Ruptak talked to Colorado Matters about raising the money to pay for the album within 24 hours, playing 16 different instruments on the album and the inspiration behind songs such as the nearly eight-minute "Poltergeist."
