Newsflash: Denver is booming. The city added more than 80,000 people in roughly the last five years. And as we recently reported, Denver area housing prices are slowing their climb but are still among the highest in the country.
That growth is no accident. Going back decades, city leaders courted it.
Metro Denver's past, present and future were the focus of "Denver Rising" on Nov. 10, 2016, part of a new speaker series from The New York Times called Look West.
Colorado Matters recorded the event and presents highlights. The Times' Rocky Mountain correspondent Jack Healy moderated. The panelists were governor and former Denver mayor John Hickenlooper; preservationist Dana Crawford; BrittaErickson, director of the Denver Film Festival, and Bryan Leach, CEO and founder of the tech firm Ibotta.
