Outside a downtown Denver art gallery, Paul Polak's getting a little winded as he bounces up and down on a big wooden contraption. It's a treadle pump -- he calls it a 'bamboo stairmaster' and three million farmers worldwide are using it to get water for their crops. Polak founded Lakewood-based International Development Enterprises, which helped get the equipment distributed and marketed to those farmers. The pump is part of a new exhibit of simple devices designed to improve the lives of people in the developing world. Polak leads Ryan Warner on a tour of the exhibit, called "Design for the Other 90%" at the RedLine Gallery. The exhibit runs through Sept. 25, 2011 (Originally aired July 13, 2011)
