Fanya Robinson, left, and Somesha Johnson, center, meet Sherie Labedis. Fanya and Somesha are the daughters of Sherie's former activist colleague "Lefty" Bryant.

When Sherie Lebedis was a high school senior in 1960s California, her class was challenged by a teacher to find out what they were willing to die for. That’s how she found herself trekking to South Carolina to join the Southern Christian Leadership Conference on a voter registration project.

That effort was led by a charismatic man named Lewis "Lefty" Bryant. More than 50 years later, Lebedis reconnects with Bryant's family on a PBS program, "We'll Meet Again." The episode airs Tuesday night. Sherie Lebedis talked about her experience with Colorado Matters, as well as one of Lefty Bryant's daughters, Somesha Johnson, who lives in Denver.
