A psychiatrist who treated James Holmes, Dr. Lynne Fenton, testified Tuesday that Holmes gave no hint of his plans for the Aurora theater shooting in the months before the attack.
Holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity for killing 12 people and wounding 70 others. Before the attack, he was a graduate student at the University of Colorado and was referred to Fenton after he told a social worker he wanted to kill people.
Fenton told jurors that Holmes never seemed depressed, suicidal, or homicidal. He also never shared any details about the guns and armor he was accumulating.
And after failing out of grad school, Fenton was encouraged that Holmes planned to get a job.
"It was all sounding like he was functioning well, and looking ahead to the future and had very reasonable plans on how to get by and what he was going to do after he left the program," she said.
