Du Blonde, ‘Black Flag’

British singer-songwriter Beth Jeans Houghton released her debut album, "Yours Truly, Cellophane Nose," in 2012. Now, after a nervous breakdown in which she scrapped an entire album's worth of material, she has re-invented her musical persona as Du Blonde.

The name isn't the only thing different about Houghton's music. She has moved away from using acoustic folk and classical instruments, and instead opts for distorted electric instruments and glam rock arrangements on the new album, "Welcome Back to Milk."

The centerpiece, however, remains Houghton's vocals, which range from delicate to brash throughout the album.
