Colorado lawmakers are again considering banning red light cameras.

Gov. John Hickenlooper warned Thursday that he may veto two anti-red light camera bills passed by the Legislature.

One measure bans the cameras entirely, the other says governments can only use them with voter approval.

At his end of session news conference Thursday, Hickenlooper said local governments should be allowed to use the technology.

"It’s very hard for people to vote yes on something that nobody likes, that’s such a nuisance," he said. "I mean, who likes photo radar? But is it a part of our safety network."

The governor thinks it is, and that’s why he could veto both bills. Supporters of the measures argue the cameras infringe on civil liberties and are just a money-maker for local governments.

The governor says he still needs to read the bills’ final language before making up his mind about a veto.
