Mom wants independent autopsy after Denver police killed daughter

The mother of a 17-year-old girl who was fatally shot by Denver police says she wants a second, independent autopsy so she can know more about how her daughter died.

Laura Sonya Rosales Hernandez said Wednesday that she doesn't trust the police investigation into the Monday shooting of Jessica Hernandez.

Police say officers shot Hernandez after she drove into one of them in a stolen car.

The medical examiner's office says Hernandez was shot multiple times but has not released its full report.

An independent city official who monitors the Police Department says an investigation of policies involving shooting at moving cars by officers was underway at the time of the killing.

The police department says it launched a separate probe of the issue after Hernandez was shot.
