Dispatch hit it big in the 1990s and early 2000s with their indie rock sound, tinged with reggae and funk. The band appeared to have called it quits in 2002, but got back together nearly a decade later and recently released a new album. It's called "America, Location 12." Many of the songs focus on big social issues, such as children fleeing gang brutality in Central America, gun violence and the opioid epidemic. Other tracks are about personal loss.

Band members Chadwick Stokes, Pete Francis and Brad Corrigan return to Colorado this week. They'll play at the Ogden Theatre in Denver Thursday night, Red Rocks Amphitheatre Friday night and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival on Saturday. Corrigan, who lives in Denver, spoke with Colorado Matters producer Stephanie Wolf about the work.
