History Colorado wants to tell a fuller version of the state's story and the staff wants Coloradans to help.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the the National Historic Preservation Act, History Colorado's Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (OAHP) launched the Heritage Diversity Project. The goal is to look across the state to identify sites of historical significance reflecting underrepresented communities and, through these properties, unearth stories from Colorado's American Indian, Latino, female, Asian American, African American and LGBTQ populations. History Colorado has asked the public's help in finding these locations.

Astrid Liverman, the national and state register coordinator with OAHP, helps lead the project. She spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel.

Audio from this interview will be attached after noon Wednesday.
