Major literary figures will be among almost 100 authors from around the world in Boulder this weekend for the first Jaipur Literature Festival on American soil. All among them, including Pulitzer-prize winning biographer Kai Bird and Moroccan American essayist Laila Lalami, will speak at more than 40 sessions that are free and open to the public. Jules Levinson, of Boulder, helped bring the event to Colorado. He spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner about it.

Peter Heller is one of the many Colorado writers to participate in the festival. He's written two best-selling novels, "The Dog Stars" and "The Painter," and on Saturday he'll take part in a nature-writing session called "The Spell of the Sea, The Lure of the Land." Heller spoke with Warner about how to write compellingly about nature -- even if it's just in your journal.
