Many have tried and failed to do justice in describing the music of Man Man. The Philadelphia band has crafted a singular style of indie rock owing to barbaric rhythms, manic vocals, and topsy-turvy lyrics. But they simply must be heard to truly wrap your head around what makes them great - which believe us, you should.

Man Man popped into our CPR Performance Studio this week in between shows at Boulder's Fox Theatre and Colorado Springs' Black Sheep. Though their live show is a sight to behold (the Fox show included matching skeleton outfits and an alien mask), they were slightly more physically subdued in the studio, but no less energetic musically. They played three songs, including standout new single "Head On (Hold Onto Your Heart.")

Keefer talked with frontman Honus Honus about the natural process of finding their unique sound and the musical evolution that led to their latest album "On Oni Pond." Stream the session in its entirety above!
