It's an Essential Classics Weekend this Memorial Day weekend.

From 4 p.m. Friday through 9 p.m. Monday we'll feature the greatest of the great works and performances, starting with Dvorak's "New World" Symphony.

Listen to hear big symphonies, concerti, chamber works and moments from the opera stage. 

Here are just a few of the highlights on this weekend's playlist. Listen during the following hours to hear some of these masterpieces:

Friday:

  • 5 p.m.: J.S. Bach's Toccata and Fugue
  • 6 p.m.: Stravinsky: "Firebird" Suite

Saturday

  • 11 a.m.: Mozart's "Jupiter" Symphony No. 41
  • 3 p.m.: Schubert's "Trout" Quintet
  • 7 p.m.: Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5
  • 8 p.m.: Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring"
  • 10 p.m.: Steve Reich's "Different Trains"

Sunday

  • Sacred Classics (6-10 a.m.) will feature:
    • Vivaldi's "Gloria"
    • Mozart's Requiem
  • The Baroque Show (10 a.m.-noon) will feature:
    • Vivaldi: "The Four Seasons"
    • J.S. Bach: "Goldberg" Variations
  • 2 p.m.: Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf" with narration
  • 4 p.m.: Brahms' Symphony No. 4
  • 8 p.m.: Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto

Monday:

  • 9 a.m.: Mozart's "Eine kleine nachtmusic"
  • 10 a.m.: Copland's "Appalachian Spring"
  • 11 a.m.: Elgar's Cello Concerto     
  • 1 p.m.: Beethoven's Symphony No. 7
  • 3 p.m.: Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto
